Seven for Seven

With seven months in the book, here is how they stand in 2010 (in my humble opinion):

7) The Roots - ‘How I Got Over’

Don’t think they’re capable of ever going wrong. Greatly enjoy their take on Monsters of Folk’s ‘Dear God.’

6) The Black Keys - ‘Brothers’

Sounds different and the same all at once. Hopefully some of these tracks find their way into the second season of ‘Eastbound and Down.’

5) Arcade Fire - ‘The Suburbs’

This literally just came out so I’m still evaluating. Don’t think it’ll ever get to ‘Funeral’ status but it has already surpassed ‘Neon Bible’ in my book.

4) Wale - ‘More About Nothing’

Ditto. ‘Seinfeld’ and Kevin Durant is a lethal combination. Hopefully his next studio release is more in the vein of his mixtapes.

3) Eminem - ‘Recovery’

Easily his best work in a decade. I’m grateful for the elimination of the accents and looking forward to whatever he comes up with next.

2) Vampire Weekend - ‘Contra’

Their first album might be my favorite of all-time so it was a tough act to follow. Happy to hear the additional tones and textures on this sophomore effort.

1) Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse - ‘Dark Night of the Soul’

Glad this finally got to see the light of day. Contains a lot of cool cameos and a bunch of tracks that become catchy in sneaky ways.
